Donations will go towards stewardship of the Roxborough Greenbelt.  Proposed stewardship activities include unobtrusive entrance signage, removal of the invasive species Purple Jewelweed, liming of the upper slope (where soil is acidic), stabilizing the creek bank with willow fascines in partnership with the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee, and naturalizing adjacent road allowances.

We are consulting with the neighbourhood and other interested citizens to make a plan for the greenbelt, within the core goal of preserving its natural character, and its value to the environment and to the community.
This will allow us to set concrete goals and priorities for stewardship.

Why should you contribute towards the protection of the Roxborough Greenbelt as a public natural park?

  • to protect valuable habitat for native plants and animals
  • to protect one of the last remaining forested areas in central Sudbury
  • to maintain trails for walking, biking and other outdoor recreation, contributing to quality of life and healthy living
  • to enhance Sudbury’s park system and the vitality of downtown with a wilderness park connected to downtown along the Trans Canada Trail and the Junction Creek Waterway Park
  • to  protect air and water quality
  • to protect human health
  • to be part of a unique grassroots community effort!

Keep in mind...

-         Studies have shown that urban greenspaces significantly impact human health

-         Studies have shown that urban greenspaces improve air quality, water quality, and moderate extreme temperatures

-         Studies have shown parkland significantly increases property values in the neighbourhood

-         Municipalities around Canada are struggling to protect greenspaces with little resources to do so - as citizens we can contribute to realizing this important goal

-         Natural beauty and outdoor recreation are an important part of Sudbury’s identity and what makes this city attractive for residents, visitors and incoming professionals

-         Donations $20.00 or over are a tax deductible
